Bike down a Volcano
[Photo: Volcano Bikers] What a ride! 38 miles coasting down the 10,023 ft. dormant volcano, Haleakala. Of course, you don't have to go real fast, unless you want to. And it's not all just about the ride. If you take a sunrise trip, you'll get to witness one of the most beautiful sights on Maui, Sunrise at the Summit. You have to get up in the middle of the night, but believe me, it's worth it. You'll be picked up in an air conditioned van, given a safety briefing on the way to the top of the Crater and enjoy a continental breakfast - all before you even start your tour. On the way down, you'll get to see the crater rim, upcountry Maui and finally, Paia. Here you'll be treated to a great meal and then... you can sleep all the way back to your hotel or condo.

Be sure to wear sunglasses or prescription glasses, closed toe shoes and although all tour companies provide you with windbreaker jackets and pants, it can be pretty cold up there so wear warm clothes in layers. Divers remember: After diving - 24 hours before going to high elevations.

Mountain Riders

Just the facts...: Mountain Riders will pick you up from your hotel or condo in an air conditioned van and transport you to the top of Haleakala Crater. En route to the volcano, you'll be given an indepth safety briefing. Upon arrival, you'll witness a spectacular Sunrise and then prepare yourself for a thrilling, 38 mile guided coast down Maui's 10,023 ft. dormant volcano. Riding your Worksman Chrome Cruiser bicycle, complete with helmet, windbreaker jacket and pants, your tour will include the crater rim through upcountry Maui to the town of Paia. A continental breakfast is served at the base station and a full breakfast will be served at Polli's or Casanova's Restaurant (Sunrise Tour) in Makawao or lunch at the Sunrise Protea Flower Farm (Day Tour) in Kula.

SUNRISE TOUR: (departs between 2:30AM - 4:00AM)
Your tour begins with a continental breakfast while being given a complete safety briefing. Now get ready for a 38 mile downhill descent from the rim of Haleakala Crater (10,023 feet) and through the towns of Kula, Makawao, Haiku and Paia. Once arriving in Paia, riders will enjoy a Champagne Breakfast at the Pa'ia Grill.
Custom mountain bikes, helmets, gloves, windbreakers and foul weather gear are provided. We require all riders to wear sunglasses or prescription glasses and closed toe shoes. Admission to Haleakala National Park is included in the total price.
MID-DAY TOUR: (departs between 6:15AM - 7:00AM)
Same as above except that riders will enjoy lunch at the Pa'ia Grill after the tour.
