Island of Lanai
At 140 square miles, Lanai is one of the smallest islands in the Hawaiian Islands chain. Lanai City is located at 1600 feet above sea level and is home to some 2,500 residents. It's still a quiet, little plantation town even though pineapple production has stopped. Tourism is becoming a new source of employment for the people of Lanai. The island is a beautiful place to visit and is now home to several major resorts. The diving off the coast of Lanai has always been pristine and offers some exciting lava formation dives, including Cathedrals. The reefs around Lanai abound with marine life and coral. Passengers on snorkel and dive boats headed to Lanai, usually encounter Spinner Dolphins frolicking in the warm waters. Bring your camera!
