Whale Watching (in season) Maui has become one of the most well known humpback whale watching and whale research areas in the world. It's hard to describe what one feels when a 40 foot, 40 ton humpback whale breaches (jumps straight up out of the water) 100 yards in front of you. Let's just say you need to see it for yourself. Whale watching boats offer up to four tours per day and most guarantee whale sightings or your next trip is free. That's a lot of whales!
